Solemn Ceremony in Sofia – 15 April 2026
On 15 April 2026, a solemn ceremony marking the Consecration of the Supreme Grand Chapter of the Holy Royal Arch of Bulgaria took place in Sofia. The ceremonial ritual was conducted by the most senior members of the Supreme Grand Chapter of England.
With this event, Bulgarian Freemasonry established its own independent Supreme Grand Chapter, directly founded by England—the cradle of world Freemasonry—and officially recognized and authorized to operate in the country by the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria.
The first head of the new body was unanimously elected to be M.W. Bro. Borislav Sarandev, Past Grand Master of the UGLB, who was ceremonially installed immediately after the vote as the Most Excellent the First Grand Principal of the Supreme Grand Chapter. The remaining Grand Officers were also duly announced and appointed.
Following the ceremony, the attending Companions, Officers, and official guests shared a convivial Festive Board and enjoyed the warm and friendly hospitality of the hosts.
